Medical-Surgical Nurse

Base Pay: $56.21 / Hour
Description:
The Registered Nurse - Med Surg is accountable for providing high-quality patient care to all patients in the hospital. This includes assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions.
Responsibilities:
- Nursing Skills and Process:
- Assess patient data to identify patient needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Implement care plans, including medication administration, wound care, and other interventions as needed.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and patient safety.
- Education:
- Assess patient learning needs and develop education plans to meet those needs.
- Provide education to patients and families on self-care, treatments, and procedures.
- Use available resources to ensure patient education needs are met.
- Admission and Discharge:
- Perform thorough systems, pain, and safety assessments on admission.
- Initiate discharge planning on admission and prepare patients and families for timely discharges.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to plan for patient discharge needs.
- Documentation:
- Document patient assessments and interventions in the electronic medical record.
- Ensure documentation is timely, accurate, concise, and objective.
- Organizational Skills:
- Manage multiple patient care assignments and prioritize care to meet patient needs.
- Complete assignments within expected time frames.
- Communication:
- Identify self to patients and others, explain procedures, and use positive communication techniques.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless care transitions and patient safety.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current Minnesota license.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS or ability to complete within six months of hire.
- One to two years experience as an RN, with minimum one year hospital experience.
- Bachelor Degree preferred.
Relationship Management:
- Follow all aspects of the Standards of Behavior.
- Receives no patient/family/staff dissatisfaction comments annually.
- Adheres to the Patient's Bill of Rights and follows the REHC confidentiality policy.
