Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management: Direct, oversee, and manage all aspects of clinical services and medical education provided by department members, ensuring the efficient achievement of departmental goals and effective delivery of medical care to patients and the community.
- Quality and Safety: Exercise responsibility for the quality and safety of direct patient care services, including ongoing performance improvement activities and compliance with performance indicators.
- Departmental Duties: Exercise responsibility for such other departmental duties, including making recommendations for the granting of medical staff privileges and the appointment and reappointment of medical staff.
- Representation and Collaboration: Represent the department in a medical advisory capacity to the corporation and the Chief Medical Officer, and collaborate with the service line administrator and nursing leader to develop and accomplish specific objectives.
- Fiduciary Responsibilities: Assume fiduciary responsibilities within the departmental structure, including identifying the need to increase or decrease clinical and support staff, maximizing efficiency of departmental services, creating revenue-generating opportunities, and reducing waste.
- Education and Licensure: A current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, and a valid DEA registration.
- Certification and Privileges: Board certification in the appropriate board specialty, and good standing with the health care facility's Medical Staff with appropriate privileges granted in accordance with the usual procedures of the health care facility.
- Leadership and Managerial Abilities: Demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities, including personnel, finance, quality, and clinical resource management.
