Polysomnographic Technologist Job Description

Gundersen Health System is seeking a skilled Polysomnographic Technologist to join our dedicated team in La Crosse, WI. As a Polysomnographic Technologist, you will play a crucial role in performing comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, and overnight polysomnograms on patients as ordered by a physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform Polysomnogram (PSG) testing with or without Positive Airway Pressure (PAP), Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), and Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) on inpatients and outpatients.
  • Operate medical equipment to record wake/sleep physiology.
  • Provide patient education and support during testing procedures.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to facilitate services, provide consultation/education, and generate/print accurate reports for the physician.
  • Responsible for knowledge and independent application of skills related to pattern recognition, sleep/wake stages, respiratory and Electrocardiogram (ECG) events, various medical and pharmacological changes, and electrical safety.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an Electroneurodiagnostic or Polysomnographic or Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) within 30 months of hire date.
