Job Overview:
As an Electrical Systems Project Specialist, you will deliver comprehensive electrical engineering services to ensure superior quality in planning, design, and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer electrical systems, encompassing power, lighting, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Update and maintain campus electrical standards, review external consultant projects, and manage system diagrams.
  • Provide capital planning and operational support for electrical systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a combination of a 2-year Electrical Engineering Technology degree and relevant professional experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) designation or eligibility to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Excel.

Job Specific Qualifications:

  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment through internships or professional roles.
  • Technical expertise in building electrical systems including power, lighting, fire alarm, and data systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide design engineering services for in-house projects, including development of design basis, schematic design, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct technical reviews of consultant-designed projects to ensure compliance with university standards.
  • Act as a liaison between consultants and university operational staff to ensure systems are efficient and maintainable.
  • Support operational staff in diagnosing and advising on building electrical systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation for electrical systems.
  • Develop and uphold university engineering standards for external consultants and internal departments.
  • Research and establish standards for quality university facilities in collaboration with operational staff.
  • Assist in feasibility studies and functional improvements for existing systems.
