Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY
The Bindery Production Assistant is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of various bindery equipment. This role supports Bindery Machine Operators by managing the flow of materials, ensuring quality control, and assisting in the completion of printed products.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform hand collating and other manual tasks in the bindery department.
  • Catch and organize completed printed materials at the output end of binding machines.
  • Assist in the cutting, folding, collating, stitching, and binding processes.
  • Set up and operate various punching machines.
  • Handle the setup and operation of spiral, wire-O, and plastic binding equipment.
  • Manage the setup and operation of perforating and scoring machines.
  • Operate strip or pattern gluing machines effectively.
  • Conduct padding procedures as required.
  • Perform eyeleting tasks.
  • Utilize power drills for various applications.
  • Execute round cornering tasks.
  • Carry out laminating procedures.
  • Set up and operate tab cutting machines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, particularly those related to measurements and quantities.
  • Capability to apply written guidelines for machine setup.
  • Familiarity with stitching and binding processes is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the operation and functionality of various bindery machinery is beneficial.
  • Good manual dexterity is essential.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capacity to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
