Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team at Indiana University. As a key member of our Campus Facility Services department, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, including pipes, valves, and controls.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in HVAC systems, using various diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC-related equipment, including changing belts and filters, greasing motors, and cleaning and lubricating shafts and bearings.
  • Assist in bidding and design work with manager, and train apprentices and other personnel as needed.
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and be available to work during inclement weather, including snow and ice.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of verifiable journey-level experience in HVAC or a related field.
  • Certificate in relevant DOL apprenticed trade.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by Indiana University.

  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated time management and priority setting skills.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. It requires effective communication, the ability to operate machinery, tools, and controls. The role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, and to position one's self in low level positions, detect a variety of chemicals and/or gases.
