Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Substation Transmission Engineering Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will apply engineering principles to power and substation structural design, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of our services. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing and implementing substation structures and associated facilities, including cable ducts, foundations, manholes, and power transformers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering principles to power and substation structural design, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Design and implement substation structures and associated facilities, including cable ducts, foundations, manholes, and power transformers.
  • Prepare and approve specifications, requisitions, engineering designs, work orders, and construction drawings.
  • Evaluate and recommend the purchase of new equipment and materials.
  • Prepare cost estimates and check manufacturer's drawings and engineering calculations for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct computerized engineering studies and analysis of structural and power designs.
  • Coordinate departmental work with other division areas and outside agencies.
  • Make field trips to obtain data, observe construction, and resolve construction and design problems.
  • Provide advice and power and structural engineering design assistance to division personnel and other requesting parties.
  • Gather information from survey notes and instructions and provide engineering designs for various projects assigned.
  • Stay up-to-date with engineering changes, rules, regulations, codes, and construction methods.
  • Prepare various records, reports, and budgets.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience will vary according to departmental needs.
  • Must successfully complete NIMS Training within one year of entering the job.
  • Must have an occupationally significant combination of organizational ability, ability to apply engineering principles and methods, ability to formulate and implement programs and policies, and oral and written communication skills.
Physical Working Conditions

Works in an office environment majority of the time; subject to construction hazards while making field inspections. Requires medium lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.
