Nursing Director RN Job Description

Overview

The Nursing Director RN is a key leadership position at Sunrise Senior Living, responsible for overseeing the health and wellness of residents in our communities. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team of healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Health and Wellness Management
    • Provide strategic leadership for resident care in the community, managing and directing the nursing team to promote the health and wellness of the resident population.
    • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services for residents.
    • Develop and implement individualized service plans to meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Medication Management
    • Provide oversight of the community medication management program to promote resident safety in the medication use process.
    • Collaborate with the medication care managers to ensure accurate and timely medication administration.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Track, trend, and report clinical quality data to identify risk and areas for improvement.
    • Lead clinical quality and process improvement initiatives within the community to mitigate risk and improve resident care outcomes.
  • Financial Management
    • Manage the department budget to include labor and other expenses, and understand its impact on the community's bottom line.
    • Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data in a timely manner, per Sunrise policies and internal business controls.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or school of nursing with a current state license as a professional Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Minimum two (2) years RN experience, with at least one (1) year experience in home health, assisted living, or long-term care environment preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year nursing management experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and daily operations supervision.
