Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric/Mental Health Registered Nurse to join our team. As a Psychiatric/Mental Health RN, you will be responsible for managing the care of adolescent patients (ages 4-18 y/o) and/or adult patients (ages 18-35 y/o) experiencing psychiatric/mental health disorders. Your expertise will be essential in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising nursing care of patients within the area of assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor child and adolescent patients' daily functioning and assist in mental health symptom management
  • Demonstrate purposeful, informed, results-oriented critical thinking, resulting in safe, quality care and good nursing judgment
  • Collaborate with team, seek timely advice, and give and always accept feedback to ensure safe patient care
  • Effectively use therapeutic approaches to manage milieus with a focus on reducing the use of restraint and seclusion when possible
  • Plan and facilitate nursing groups with patients when scheduled during shift
  • Responsible for nursing assessment upon admission and the necessary discharge planning required in the hospital program
  • Track and communicate pertinent medical and psychiatric information both verbally and through written documentation in EHR
  • Administer medications in an accurate manner consistent with policy and good nursing practice
  • Perform appropriate interventions as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a Nursing Degree. BSN preferred.
  • Current licensure as an RN with the Minnesota State Board of Nursing is required.
  • Evidence of 1 year of psychiatric/mental health nursing experience within the past two years preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and make safe judgment calls in stressful situations.
  • Ability to multi-task, use time efficiently, and prioritize appropriately.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner in both verbal and written format, and models a positive teamwork attitude.
