Job Title: Sr Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Sr Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Baton Rouge.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and specifying fixed equipment, rotating equipment, and machinery packages for our clients in the petrochemical industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering deliverables in accordance with company standards, project requirements, and international regulations.
  • Identify and document project scope growth, and apply project procedures for cost and time reimbursement.
  • Manage scope, budgets, and schedules as required.
  • Identify and address project risks, and implement cost reduction and schedule improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical information to support the project team.
  • Comply with company management systems and QHSE requirements.
  • Attend technical design/project reviews to ensure compliance with customer needs and QHSE requirements.
  • Understand customer needs and ensure they are being satisfied.
  • Interface with internal engineering disciplines and external project team members.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • PE License is required.
  • 8-15 years of related experience in engineering design of oil & gas, petrochemical, or plastics manufacturing facility mechanical equipment.
  • General understanding of the entire cradle to grave workflow for an EPC Project, interdepartmental dependencies, and recognition of the importance of TIC rather than individual constituents that make up the whole.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry codes, product safety standards, regulations, etc.
  • Comfortable with occasional opportunities for international travel.

Preferred Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in various Mechanical engineering, operations, or other technical roles with at least 5 years of experience in a multidisciplinary petrochemical design environment.
  • ASME Section VIII, Division 2 High Pressure Experience Preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASME VIII Division 3 and other codes / regulations.
  • Knowledge of FEA analysis and fitness for service assessments.
  • Experience with other Machinery/packages such as Thermal oxidizers, Pneumatic conveying systems, and Extruder/pelletizers.
  • Material selection knowledge and familiarity with international codes for steel types used in the petrochemical sector required, familiarity with high strength steels preferred.
  • Knowledge of thermal rating for heat exchangers.
