About the Role

Ryder System is seeking a highly skilled Master Diesel Technician to join our team in Tigard, OR. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring they are safe and reliable for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work, and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computers and software when applicable.
  • Perform remote triage to assist with roadside breakdowns and provide solutions to customers.
  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions.
  • Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Coach and mentor other technicians to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines, including safety and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Four years or more of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
  • All other certifications as required by location.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks.
  • Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including PC, Windows, and mouse.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability to work shift work, weekends, and on-call duty as required.
  • Prefer ASE certification in PM, brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics, or ASE Master Mechanic.
  • Required to operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently.
  • Minimum tool requirement.
  • Ability to road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others.
