Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ryder System. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, including diesel engines, transmissions, and brakes.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with diesel engines, transmissions, and brakes.
  • Use diagnostic computers and software to troubleshoot and repair issues.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organization of the shop.
  • Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints and provide solutions.
  • Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Coach and mentor other technicians to improve their skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification in diesel mechanics or a related field preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of diesel engines, including routine maintenance and complex repairs.
  • Four years or more of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
  • All other certifications required by location.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to perform all T3 tasks.
  • Must have demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be available to work shift work/weekends and on-call duty as required.
  • Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic.
  • Required to operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently.
  • Must have minimum tool requirement.
  • Must road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/influence others.
