We are looking for an Automation Systems Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and maintaining control systems and components within our operational facilities. This role is essential to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of production and utility equipment.
Note: This position requires availability for 12-hour night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, utilizing appropriate safety gear and reporting any electrical hazards to management promptly.
- Diagnose, repair, and calibrate various electrical sensors, including but not limited to photoelectric, inductive, capacitive, magnetic, pressure, temperature, weight, and position sensors.
- Manage the troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of electrical control devices such as AC and DC drives, servo controllers, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids, power supplies, and indicator lights.
- Handle the troubleshooting and commissioning of PLC/HMI hardware, including processors, discrete and analog I/O cards, and network adapters.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as laptops, electrical schematics, meters, and oscilloscopes to identify and resolve issues.
- Implement minor programming adjustments in PLC logic and HMI programs to facilitate troubleshooting and repairs.
- Execute wiring and programming modifications on production equipment as necessary and perform scheduled electrical maintenance.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Process, and Project Engineers to prioritize daily tasks and special projects.
- Assist in project management and equipment installations as required.
- Share expertise and techniques with team members and support the training of new staff.
- Participate in training sessions provided by the company.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma with an associate's degree in electronics or a related field is preferred, along with 1-3 years of industrial experience.
- Proficient in personal computer applications, including controls programming software, email, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and principles, including knowledge of three-phase, single-phase, and DC power systems, as well as familiarity with NEC and standard wiring practices.
- Advanced knowledge of controller-based hardware and software, including the ability to read and modify PLC ladder logic and troubleshoot motion control programs.
- Understanding of product specifications, quality standards, production objectives, and the implications of downtime on efficiency.
- Effective communication skills to work closely with production teams and coordinate with the parts department for spare parts management.
- Strong analytical skills to identify and isolate problems through testing and observation.
- Ability to operate production equipment with minimal assistance.
- Capability to perform quick and accurate electrical repairs and programming changes to minimize downtime.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
