Wildlife Conservation Park Maintenance Associate

About the Role
As a valued member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our park. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) and contribute to our mission of protecting wildlife and wild places.Job Responsibilities:
- Custodial Duties: Perform various custodial tasks throughout the park, including cleaning, trash removal, and facility maintenance.
- Pest Control: Participate in pest control programs, with training provided by our experienced staff.
- Ground Maintenance: Assist with ground maintenance work, including raking leaves, spreading tanbark or gravel, and other related tasks.
- Mail/Supply Run: Conduct regular mail and supply runs to the Bronx Zoo, using a valid driver's license and receiving training as needed.
- Public Interaction: Offer aid, help, directions, and provide information to the public, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
- Zoo Equipment Movement: Assist in the movement of zoo equipment, supplies, and refuse, promoting efficient operations.
- Maintaining Park Areas: Help maintain areas outside of your assigned duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
- Furniture/Miscellaneous Tasks: Move furniture or office equipment, set up tables and chairs, and perform other related tasks as necessary.
- Enforcing Rules and Regulations: Ensure compliance with WCS visitors' rules and regulations, as well as those of the Department of Parks of the City of New York.
- Additional Tasks: Perform related tasks and duties as required, embracing a collaborative approach to achieving our conservation goals.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Professional Representation: Demonstrate the ability to represent WCS in a professional manner, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with employees, colleagues, City agencies, contractors, and the general public.
- Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license, preferably.
- Education: Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent, preferably.
Physical Demands and Work Schedule
- Outdoor Work: Perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions, requiring manual dexterity and safe use of tools and equipment.
- Physical Ability: Meet the physical demands of the position, including climbing, kneeling, bending, navigating uneven terrain, and moderate lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility: Willingly work weekends, holidays, evenings, and special events as scheduled demands.
