Job Summary:

We are seeking a Zoological Park Attendant to join our team at Prospect Park Zoo. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the park, performing custodial duties, participating in pest control programs, and providing excellent customer service to the public. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team dedicated to protecting wildlife and wild places. As a Zoological Park Attendant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and cleanliness of the park, and ensuring that our visitors have a positive and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform custodial duties throughout the park, including cleaning and maintaining public areas, restrooms, and other facilities.
  • Participate in pest control programs, including the use of traps and other control methods.
  • Perform ground maintenance work, including raking leaves, spreading tanbark or gravel, and other tasks as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service to the public, answering questions and providing information about the park and its animals.
  • Assist with the movement of zoo equipment, supplies, and refuse, and perform other tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Ability to represent Wildlife Conservation Society in a professional manner and to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with employees, colleagues, City and other government agencies, outside contractors, and the general public.
  • Valid Driver's License (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • The position requires outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, and snow. Tasks require manual dexterity and ability to safely use tools and operate equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and special events as the schedule demands.
