Sentara Leigh Hospital is in search of a dedicated Speech Language Specialist for Acute Care settings.

Flexi/PRN Opportunities Available

Role Summary

As a Speech Language Specialist, you will evaluate, strategize, and engage in rehabilitation programs aimed at enhancing communication, swallowing, language, voice, and fluency challenges. You will also provide developmentally appropriate education for clients and their families. Additionally, you will oversee and take responsibility for the care delivered by designated team members.

To qualify, you must be certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (CCC-SLP) upon meeting eligibility criteria. A minimum of one year of experience is required for Resource Pool candidates.

Required Qualifications:

MLD - Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology (Mandatory) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI, Speech-Language Pathologist License (SLP) - Various States

Essential Skills:

Proficient in Active Listening, Effective Communication, Critical Thinking, Leadership, Learning Strategies, Resource Management, Monitoring, Service Orientation, Social Awareness, Verbal Communication, Technology Proficiency, Time Management, and Writing Skills.
