Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading complex engineering projects, analyzing data, and developing implementation plans for production process optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead medium to large complex projects, leading a small team of engineers in project leadership.
  • Develop preliminary engineering designs and engineering and material specifications.
  • Perform design work, including researching data, conducting feasibility and economic studies.
  • Determine design criteria in accordance with required standards and codes for assigned projects.
  • Manage execution of projects by providing direction to equipment vendors and contractors.
  • Manage project installation schedules by coordinating project activities with plant personnel, vendors, and contractors.
  • Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Engineering Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering project management, preferably in the food processing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and techniques related to food processing and the meat industry.
  • Ability to apply sound engineering principles to operational and design issues.
  • Proficient in engineering economics, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
