Site Engineering Specialist

I. Core Function: The Construction Project Coordinator is an entry-level role that acts as a liaison among the client, the construction project manager, the site superintendent, and various subcontractors to ensure that construction activities are conducted safely, accurately, and efficiently.

II. Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, Site Superintendent, and Subcontractors to gather information for creating and disseminating the Daily Project Schedule.
  • Assists in the development and distribution of the Weekly 3-week Lookahead Schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, Site Superintendent, and Subcontractors.
  • Works with the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager, Site Superintendent, and Subcontractors to compile information for the long-term Detailed Progress Schedule.
  • Utilizes the schedule to update material requirements and communicates these needs to suppliers.
  • Examines plans and specifications to determine payment basis and measurement methods to ensure precise cost coding of labor, equipment, materials, and hauling expenses.
  • Processes submittals, schedules, quantity takeoffs, and payment estimate data.
  • Collects and reviews daily trucking logs and material summaries.
  • Gathers and verifies material tickets from the field.
  • Assists the Site Superintendent in completing daily time in the field by reviewing timecards for accurate quantity and cost code information.
  • Supports the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager as needed in preparation for meetings.
  • Reviews, codes, and approves invoices.
  • Analyzes job cost reports with the Project Manager/Senior Project Manager and Site Superintendent.
  • Assists the Project Manager/Senior Project Manager in preparing for weekly subcontractor and progress meetings.
  • Participates in weekly subcontractor and progress meetings, taking detailed notes.

III. Additional Duties:

  • Includes various tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervising Project Manager/Senior Project Manager.
  • Available on-call during winter months to oversee snow removal operations outside of regular working hours when necessary.

IV. Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Basic ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.

V. Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience through internships or previous roles in heavy highway construction.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Access.
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu.
  • Experience with Oracle P6.
  • Familiarity with Viewpoint Vista.
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid and Heavy Job.
  • GPS survey training.

VI. Education Level / Required Certification: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, General Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience. PMP certification is advantageous.

VII. Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours per day with breaks.
  • Must be able to stoop and climb frequently.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven terrain regularly at job sites.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle long distances frequently.
