Clinical Laboratory Technologist

NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island is a leading healthcare institution that offers a wide range of medical services and specialties. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care and are seeking a skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to perform laboratory tests and procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, and calculation and reporting of results. The successful candidate will also be responsible for performing quality control procedures, operating and maintaining instruments and equipment, and communicating critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests and procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, and calculation and reporting of results.
- Perform and document quality control procedures, including instrument preventative maintenance, function checks, and calibration.
- Review patient results prior to release to the electronic medical record and correlate final results with known facts concerning patient history/previous values.
- Communicate critical values and barriers to testing to medical staff according to protocol and document according to laboratory policy.
- Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments and maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area.
- Participate in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
Requirements:
- NYS DOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry, or physical sciences from an accredited college or university.
- One year experience in a clinical laboratory (completion of an internship at a qualified institution is acceptable).
- NYS License.
- Effective Interpersonal and Communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASCP Certified.
- Excellent computer knowledge/skill.
