Job Description

About the Role

Sandhu Law Group LLC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join our team in Greater Cleveland, Ohio. As a key member of our civil litigation and creditors' rights law firm, you will be responsible for handling a full load of cases under the supervision of a senior attorney.

Responsibilities

  • Independently handle a full load of cases, including drafting and reviewing initial complaints, service of summons, deeds, contracts, judgment and sale documentation, and other real estate instruments.
  • Research and draft legal memoranda, motions, and responses to briefs, as well as occasional appellate briefs and motions as they arise.
  • Represent clients at legal, administrative, and other proceedings as assigned.
  • Conduct discovery in conformity with applicable rules.
  • Interview clients and witnesses in preparation for legal proceedings.
  • Review, draft, and/or dictate legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Act in compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other applicable consumer protection statutes and regulations.
  • Participate in the development of strategy, arguments, and testimony in preparation for presentation of cases.
  • Monitor routine case files to formulate the next course of action and ensure deadlines are maintained.
  • Assign and review the work of department staff, as required.
  • Complete required and applicable optional learning classes and opportunities.
  • Additional duties as requested or required.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) and 1-3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, legal codes, legal/court procedures, precedents, and government regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other applicable consumer protection statutes and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal principles and procedures and develop effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and court systems.
  • Must hold a current, valid state license to practice law in Ohio.
  • Must practice according to the rules of professional conduct and ethical standards as required by the attorney's licensing state.
