About the Role:

Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) employs the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients within the Center. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of nursing principles, practices, and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of care. The LPN adheres to established standards of practice, coordinates the stress lab schedule, and ensures promptness and accuracy during noninvasive procedures.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Must hold a current LPN license in the State of Georgia.

Job Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Successful completion of nursing skills checklist.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely execution of scheduled procedures. Greet patients, complete assessments, and manage associated paperwork for ordered procedures. Explain procedures and verify the accuracy of tests ordered through ECIS, notifying the physician of any necessary changes.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and assist with Echo & Vascular studies as needed. After tests, support the physician and patient with any required follow-up.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for tests performed, including copying and faxing reports, and ensuring proper placement of completed charts.
  • Follow through on physician orders, including patient education and maintaining educational materials. Assist with scheduling tests and procedures.
  • Provide physicians and patients with prescribed medication samples. Manage ordering and stocking of supplies and medications, maintaining a supply log.
  • Maintain the crash cart, including checking the defibrillator and documenting daily logs. Monitor medication expiration and replacements.
  • Keep current skills checklist and assist in performing skills assessments on other staff. Implement infection control and safety practices in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Complete a minimum of six hours of continuing education each review year and conduct at least one clinically related in-service for center staff during the review year.
  • Cross-train as necessary to perform basic radiological, laboratory, and other functions.
