Project Architect/Project Lead

Overview

Northern Impact, a distinguished architectural practice, is seeking a highly skilled Project Architect to join their Newport Beach studio. With a strong focus on educational facilities, our team has over three decades of experience in programming, planning, design, and management services. We prioritize the professional development and growth of our designers, architects, and managers, embracing hybrid work arrangements.

Position Description:

As a Project Architect, you will play a pivotal role in producing top-tier construction documents that meet our company's standards. You will manage multiple assignments concurrently, assigning tasks according to the project work plan and ensuring effective and accurate execution. All tasks overseen by Project Architects/Leaders adhere to the highest standards of professional care.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager in crafting the project work plan.
  • Assist in the preparation of the project budget under the guidance of the Project Manager.
  • Uphold the firm's Guide to Quality Control and Project Management.
  • Ensure compliance with the firm's Revit Standards.
  • Provide insights to the Project Manager regarding staffing requirements.
  • Take charge of the Project Team by contributing to the development of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct thorough code research to ensure adherence to all applicable codes.
  • Collaborate with the Project Designer and other team members to create and document appropriate construction detailing.
  • Provide mentorship to less experienced project team members in document development.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to synchronize documents and convey project progress in relation to schedule and budgets.
  • Coordinate work and information with consulting engineers and professionals assigned to the team.
  • Abide by the project schedule and budget parameters.
  • Work closely with the specification writer to ensure alignment between specifications, construction, and bid documents.
  • Support the Construction Administrator in submittal reviews, RFI/Clarifications, change orders, and the overall project construction process.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining comprehensive project files from inception to closure.
  • Cultivate positive and productive relationships with all team members, consultants, agencies, and the Client.
  • Contribute to Business Development efforts by fostering positive client relations and participating in marketing/interviewing activities for new projects as needed.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff, overseeing their assignments and fostering their professional growth.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Preference for experience in educational projects and Division of the State Architect (DSA) regulations.
  • Proficiency in using Revit Architecture is a must.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, or other 3D Modeling, Animation, and Rendering computer graphics programs is a valuable asset.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting architectural drawings.
  • Proficient in diverse construction delivery methods including Design/Bid/Build, Construction Management Multi-prime, Fast Track, and Design/Build.
  • Demonstrated familiarity and expertise with building codes.
  • Established track record of effectively motivating and inspiring team members.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and capabilities.

Education Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Architecture is required, with preference given to candidates who are California Licensed Architects.
