Position Overview
The Agricultural Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the effective application of herbicides and pesticides to designated crops based on guidance from management. This role also encompasses the operation and upkeep of all applicator machinery.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepares mixtures of pesticides, fertilizers, and chemicals for application.
  • Keeps detailed records of acres treated.
  • Conducts maintenance and calibration of application machinery.
  • Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Engages in ongoing education to maintain pesticide applicator certification.
  • Participates in workshops related to applicator equipment.
  • Performs maintenance on additional machinery and fixed facilities.
  • Must be available for night shifts, overtime, and some weekend work during peak seasons.
  • Completes other job-related tasks as directed by management.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma is mandatory.
  • Experience in operating large-scale machinery is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to operate company equipment and/or drive a company vehicle; age requirements may vary for CDL positions.
  • A Class A or B CDL is preferred.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and background screening is necessary.

Skills for Success

  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Background in agriculture.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural pesticides.
  • Excellent driving history.
  • Capability to interpret field maps and operate tractor-mounted field computers.
  • Commitment to safety practices.
  • Ability to pass a CDL physical examination.
  • Capacity to work independently without direct supervision.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of a warehouse and distribution setting, where noise levels can range from moderate to very loud. Employees frequently work near moving machinery and may encounter fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological risks, as well as electrical hazards. This position requires manual dexterity for various tasks and involves talking, hearing, walking, standing, and sitting. Regular lifting or moving of items up to 100 pounds is expected.
