POSITION STANDARDS
We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our team at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a current RN license in the state of New Hampshire.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience and be certified in BCLS and ACLS.
Experience with adult education, preferably in the healthcare field, is highly desirable.
The Nurse Educator will be responsible for providing high-quality training and educational opportunities for nursing staff, including general and department-specific orientation, competency verification, and regular in-services.
The successful candidate will also have experience in learning design, program development, delivery, and evaluation, as well as the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with all levels of personnel.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
The Nurse Educator will work in conjunction with Nursing Leadership, other managers/directors, educators, and key personnel to design education systems and provide learning in the areas of general and department-specific orientation; competency verification/training; regular in-services; quality improvement and process change initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for Nursing General Orientation, developing training content, delivering training, and ensuring competency of all newly hired nurses.
They will also support the unit Preceptor Program, review evaluations of preceptors from trainees, and provide coaching as necessary.
The Nurse Educator will mentor and coach preceptors, providing direction and feedback to ensure unit-specific orientation is highly effective.
They will also support unit-based orientation, support the manager in development and sustainment of unit-based orientation manuals, and support new hire RNs on units.
The successful candidate will provide and lead a robust and diverse educational program for nursing staff, aligning with evidenced-based practice and regulatory requirements.
They will solicit information and data regarding nursing education needs through multiple means, including one-on-one involvement, periodic needs assessments, meetings with nursing leadership, quality data, and co-chairing the Nursing Education Committee.
The Nurse Educator will participate in the Nurse Practice Committee, work with nursing leaders and other leaders on new equipment, products, and processes, and provide contact hours and continuing education credits, when appropriate, in alignment with the NH BON.
They will maintain information for employee files, support Emergency Responsiveness of the organization, and provide information to managers, directors, and staff related to supplemental training opportunities.
The successful candidate will oversee the nursing clinical requirements for annual mandatory training to comply with CMS/CAH regulations and support clinics as able.
They will also oversee the new graduate RN program, develop the program content and training, provide didactic training for new graduates, facilitate the 4th-year Nursing Student capstone experience, and facilitate the Nursing Extern Program.
The Nurse Educator will provide a bridge between the college/university and the unit managers/preceptors and complete other duties as assigned.

Position Objective

The Clinical Nursing Educator's central responsibility is to provide high quality training and educational opportunities for APD nursing staff in an effort to increase overall effectiveness while improving the quality and safety of patient care.

The Clinical Nursing Educator will work in conjunction with Nursing Leadership, other managers/directors, educators, and key personnel to design education systems and provide learning in the areas of general and department-specific orientation; competency verification/training; regular in-services; quality improvement and process change initiatives.

Performance Expectation
