Job Summary

Hudson Regional Hospital is seeking a skilled EKG Technician to join our team. As an EKG Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of electrocardiogram (EKG) tests.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Maintain Patient Confidentiality**: Uphold the highest standards of patient confidentiality and dignity, serving as a patient advocate in all interactions.
  • **Verify Patient Identification**: Verify patient identification using two reliable identifiers to ensure accurate test results.
  • **Review Physician Orders**: Verify physician orders before performing testing and review pertinent clinical data to ensure accurate results.
  • **Explain Procedures**: Clearly and concisely explain procedures to patients, minimizing unnecessary anxiety.
  • **Equipment Maintenance**: Select, assemble, check, and maintain equipment for use in measuring brain/heart activity, ensuring proper function and operation.
  • **Troubleshoot Equipment**: Troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure seamless testing.
  • **Infection Control**: Adhere to all infection control policies and procedures at all times.
  • **Patient Preparation**: Ascertain patient ability to cooperate with activation procedures and ensure all leads are properly placed for EKG tests.
  • **Test Quality Control**: Ensure tracings have no artifacts and critical readings are reviewed immediately by attending physicians.
  • **Log and Distribute Results**: Log EKG results in the spreadsheet and distribute them after review, scanning EKGs into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • **Blood Collections**: Perform venous and capillary blood collections for laboratory testing, evaluating specimens for suitability.
  • **Additional Duties**: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • **Education**: High school graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred.
  • **Experience**: One year of hospital or medical office experience preferred.
  • **Certifications**: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
