Job Title: Safety Consultant

South Dakota State University is seeking a highly skilled Safety Consultant to join our team. As a Safety Consultant, you will play a critical role in implementing the Federal OSHA Consultation Program grant, providing valuable support to businesses and industries across South Dakota.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to South Dakota businesses and industries by successfully executing the requirements of the Federal OSHA Consultation Program grant.
  • Identify and evaluate safety hazards in the workplace, and develop effective solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with employers to implement safety and health programs, and provide training and guidance on OSHA standards and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough safety inspections and investigations, and provide recommendations for improvement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Management, Health, Safety, Construction Management, Technology, or related field.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal relations, and motivational skills.
  • Valid Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of one year of familiarity and experience with OSHA General Industry and/or Construction Standards, OSHA Consultation Programs/Policies/Procedures.
  • Experience in identifying and evaluating safety hazards in the workplace.
  • Experience in abating identified safety hazards according to OSHA standards.
  • Experience as a presenter at safety seminars and/or conferences.
