Role SummaryThe Automotive Financial Controller is responsible for delivering accurate financial insights regarding the dealership's overall performance to the management team. This role involves conducting thorough analyses of sales and expenses to identify potential challenges and opportunities for enhancing profitability in line with both monthly and annual projections.
Key Responsibilities- Generate comprehensive monthly financial statements adhering to dealership protocols and manufacturer specifications.
- Ensure all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims and co-op advertising, are meticulously maintained and reconciled.
- Regularly interpret financial statements and daily operating controls, keeping management informed of emerging trends.
- Assist in crafting both short-term and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
- Provide detailed financial and management reports to department heads.
- Implement a robust cash management system that forecasts cash flow and advises on the optimal use of surplus funds.
- Oversee the evaluation of depreciation rates applicable to capital assets.
- Review the general ledger for any discrepancies and ensure proper reconciliation with external sources.
- Coordinate annual audits and physical inventory assessments.
- Ensure adherence to proper accounting practices among office staff and supervise the preparation of documentation for external auditors.
- Continuously seek to enhance data accuracy and reporting efficiency across the dealership.
- Participate in management meetings and maintain a professional demeanor.
Managerial tasks include recruiting, training, and developing staff, addressing performance issues, and conducting evaluations.
QualificationsTo excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in essential duties. The following qualifications are necessary:
- Advanced knowledge of office applications, particularly MS Office Suite.
- Four to ten years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to read and interpret financial reports and legal documents.
- Strong communication skills for addressing inquiries from various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts and their practical applications.
- Analytical skills to identify problems and draw valid conclusions.
