We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Optimization Specialist to join our team at our Baytown, TX or Beaumont, TX facility.
Job Summary:
The Electrical Systems Optimization Specialist will be responsible for optimizing, troubleshooting, and designing electrical equipment in a wide variety of applications.
Responsibilities:
- Orienting field staff to ensure that installed electrical equipment contributes to safe, environmentally sound, reliable, and profitable operations
- Maintaining close contact with operations, maintenance, engineering, and project development teams to identify and implement electrical equipment repairs and reliability improvements
- Designing and specifying electrical equipment such as motors, breakers, relays, generators, substations, buses, starters, transformers, and other industrial electrical equipment (480V to 230kV)
- Coordinating projects for new or replacement equipment among engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
- Commissioning, startup assistance, and support of electrical systems with maintenance personnel
- Serving as an electrical technology expert liaison between project engineers, plant maintenance, and operations personnel
- Supporting and interfacing with business teams to maintain and improve electrical reliability while reducing maintenance costs
- Participating in screening, optimization, basic design preparation for electric power systems
- Developing project scoping, design, and detail specifications for electric power systems
- Monitoring Engineering Quality Control and leading contractor's electrical work to ensure consistency with project specifications and guidelines
- Supporting preparation of Design Basis Memorandums and developing Specifications
- Providing technical support and services to operating facilities
- Performing power systems simulations and analyses, including load flow, short circuit, motor starting and reacceleration, arc flash, transient stability, and relay coordination
- Updating Company practices and specifications
- Applying customer's Global Practices, Design Practices, General Information, and Instructions, codes, and standards in support of projects during the detailed design phase
- Participating actively in the Electrical Community of Practice
- Participating in incident investigations in support of assets
- Performing Risk Assessments and developing Equipment Strategies in support of assets
- Managing electrical area classification for assets within the facility supported
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in petrochemical industry with power systems as an Electrical Engineer
- 10+ years' experience preferred
Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position with benefits.
