We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Fluids Engineer II to join our Stage Fluids and Components team at Relativity Space. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the mechanical and structural implementation of the stage fluid systems, ensuring a reliable and efficient operation of our Terran R launch vehicle.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop fluid systems and components for the Terran R launch vehicle, including systems for liquid oxygen and liquid natural gas propellants, as well as supporting helium and nitrogen gasses.
- Integrate designs with those of the structures, propulsion, avionics hardware teams, and work closely with the GNC and performance teams to ensure that our systems can meet the requirements of launching and landing a reusable rocket.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing and test teams to ensure our hardware is adequately built and tested.
- Develop and implement design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production and assembly processes.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience, with a focus on fluid systems and components.
- Experience with commercial CAD packages (NX, CREO, Solidworks) and FEA tools to analyze structural margins.
- Knowledge of fluid system components (fittings, seals, valves, regulators, etc.) and system testing.
