About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Specialist to join our team at New Hampshire Electric Cooperative. As a key member of our Corporate Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and healthy work environments through the maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, and systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life-safety devices.
  • Enhance security and safety by performing routine testing and maintenance of facility security, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems, as well as emergency stand-by generating systems.
  • Respond to security and safety alarms, and perform routine maintenance and repair of building lighting and plumbing fixtures and systems.
  • Coordinate and oversee NHEC's solid waste disposal processes, including the proper disposal of electronic wastes, batteries, utility poles, and other controlled and hazardous wastes.
  • Improve corporate safety performance by maintaining a safe and clean working environment, participating in department safety meetings, and adhering to Employee Safety Rules and Procedures.
  • Process requisitions for routine facilities operation and maintenance functions, including snow plowing, lawn maintenance, trash/recycling removal, and ordering heating fuels.
  • Enhance the function and appearance of facilities by performing minor repairs, painting, furniture procurement, and designing office space as needs change.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced courses in building operation and energy efficiencies, as well as accounting and business, are helpful.
  • Valid New Hampshire driver's license required; CDL B is helpful.
  • 5 years' experience in facilities maintenance or related fields required.
  • Continuing education required to remain updated on local, state, and federal building codes.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and productive with ability to inspect facilities and identify health and safety problems.
  • Ability to diagnose building, furniture, and equipment problems and make repairs or contract the work out.
  • Ability to maintain records of requisitions and coordinate related maintenance and check for quality control.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to assemble and move office furniture and equipment as required.
  • Ability to use a personal computer for email and record keeping.
  • Familiarity with IVUE software in respect to accounting, purchase order creation, and invoice authorization.
  • In-depth knowledge in building construction, roof systems, electrical distribution, building maintenance, purchasing, and contracting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NEC, and building codes is helpful.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able and willing to work day shift, some evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able and willing to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and be able to work from ladders, lifts, and staging.
  • Occasional lifting of 75–100 pounds may be required.
  • Must be able to work with common cleaning products.
  • Must be willing to be on-call to respond to emergencies and alarm conditions.
