Job Summary

The State of Vermont is seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Technician I to join our team. This role is responsible for performing various tasks related to highway maintenance, including repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, patching roads, picking litter, ditching, and more.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on highways and roads, including repairing guardrails, cutting trees/brush, and patching roads.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as snowplows and graders, to maintain roadways and clear snow and ice.
  • Assist with plowing and salting during winter months, and work overtime as required.
  • Participate in a random drug and alcohol-testing program prior to operating vehicles or equipment.
Requirements
  • No education or experience required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for the successful completion of original probation.
