Unit Overview:
The Colorectal Surgery and Urology Unit features 22 semi-private rooms dedicated to the post-operative care of patients who have undergone colorectal and urologic surgical procedures.
Role Overview:
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the care of assigned patients throughout their treatment journey, with a focus on facilitating a smooth transition towards discharge, including during various stages of the acute care experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement physician directives, administer medications, initiate IV therapy, perform treatments, and conduct special tests while documenting care in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic assessments to identify and monitor patient conditions.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to the care provided.
- Utilize sound nursing judgment in making patient care management decisions.
- Administer both over-the-counter and prescribed medications as per orders.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to develop comprehensive Care Plans for all patients.
- Guide and supervise ancillary staff while upholding professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be graduates of an accredited nursing program, holding a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
Current New York State Registered Nurse license is required.
Certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC must be obtained and maintained.
Commitment to ongoing professional development through continuing education is essential.
