Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Shop Service Technician to enhance our operational efficiency and contribute to our customer service objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in heavy equipment service and maintenance, demonstrating a strong commitment to safety and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Utilize various diagnostic tools and techniques to inspect, assess, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy machinery.
  • Document equipment repairs and maintenance activities accurately to ensure proper billing and service records.
  • Conduct overhauls and performance tests on machinery to guarantee operational efficiency.
  • Test repaired equipment to confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Notify the shop manager of any additional repairs needed or visible damage.
  • Perform cleaning, lubrication, and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary.
  • Stay updated on new equipment models and technical advancements through ongoing training.
  • Execute other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and completion of an accredited technical program in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic is essential.
  • Possession of personal tools is required.
  • Experience with Volvo or similar industry equipment is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic and tuning equipment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance software and computer systems is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills are necessary to ensure high-quality service.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 60 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

Work Environment

The role primarily involves working in a shop and field environment, with potential exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
