POSITION SUMMARY
Animal Care Specialists play a crucial role in the management and welfare of pigs within our production facilities. Comprehensive training will be provided; prior experience is not a prerequisite.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the quality of feed and ensuring adequate water supply
- Maintaining optimal barn conditions and ventilation systems
- Assisting in the breeding of sows (if assigned to a sow farm)
- Handling the processing of piglets (if assigned to a sow farm)
- Coordinating the loading and unloading of pigs as per schedule
- Upholding cleanliness standards across the farm
- Implementing strict safety protocols and adhering to company animal welfare policies
- Maintaining precise inventory records of livestock
- Identifying and addressing visual symptoms of common swine illnesses, administering treatment and vaccinations as required
- Sorting and segregating hogs with identifiable physical defects
- Achieving PQA certification through the National Pork Board
COMPENSATION:
Hourly Rate: $18.00
EMPLOYEE BENEFITS

QUALIFICATIONS
- No formal education or experience necessary.
- Basic mathematical skills required.
- Must be flexible and available to work on assigned weekends (Saturday/Sunday).
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous, but not mandatory.
- Ability to work in a farm environment is essential.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The role involves regularly lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds, and sometimes pushing or moving up to 300 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing job duties, employees may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations. Frequent exposure to waste materials, feed, and hog dust is expected.
