Job Summary

At Apple, we're looking for a skilled Battery Algorithm Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development and qualification of advanced lithium ion battery technology for portable power consumer applications. Your expertise will be crucial in developing battery firmware, algorithms, and battery management system (BMS) qualification protocols to ensure a high level of customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal multi-functional teams to develop battery firmware, algorithm, and BMS qualification protocols.
• Work with FW, Algo, and BMS engineers to improve the quality and productivity of battery systems.
• Develop simulation and physical tests to validate the performance of battery systems.
• Review, analyze, and report qualification result data.
• Flag and report anomalous qualification output and perform FA to identify root cause for deviation.
• Standardize qualification test plans across labs to improve uniformity and reliability of qualification data.
• Develop verification methods to detect battery abnormalities early in the NPI design process.

Requirements

• Experience in BMS algorithm and software, with a mix of QA and development.
• Strong coding skills, preferably in Python, C/C++.
• Knowledge of Li-Ion and related cell chemistries, with experience with detailed battery and cell modeling a plus.
• Experienced in various test tools like battery testers to evaluate algorithm performance in batteries.
• Excellent debugging skills to tackle challenging problems.
• Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to use statistical tools and techniques to support proposed solutions.
• Self-starter with excellent time management skills and entrepreneurial spirit.
• Ability to articulate design issues and path to resolution both verbally and with documentation.
• Proven ability to work independently under high pressure and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

Education & Experience

• BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
