Job Overview

Snohomish County PUD #1 is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Conservation Specialist to join their Natural Resources Team.

This role involves working in various field settings, including hydrology and water quality, with a focus on selecting candidates with relevant experience in these areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrologic principles and field techniques for measuring surface and/or ground water discharge, as well as an understanding of standard water quality parameters and their importance to aquatic life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the District in environmental matters related to project permitting, regulatory policy, and compliance with operating licenses;
  • Provide support in decision-making on environmental issues through technical expertise and scientific practice;
  • Participate as an interdisciplinary team member and lead projects on environmental initiatives or regulatory affairs impacting the utility;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental or Scientific related field, AND
  • Two (2) years of professional experience as a resource specialist or scientific researcher, or related;

The preferred candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, flexibility to adapt to changing field conditions and project requirements, safety awareness, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis using field and remote sensing equipment is also essential. Experience in conducting pacific salmon and steelhead trout escapement surveys is desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation program, with a salary range of $99,473 - $124,342 annually, based on qualifications and experience. Additionally, our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision hardware, basic life insurance, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, voluntary term life, and retirement benefits, including PERS pension, 401(k), and a 457 plan.
