Job Summary

The Extrusion Technician is responsible for operating an extrusion line along with all auxiliary equipment to produce high-quality profiles.

Essential Functions
  • Disassemble, set up, and initiate an extruder line under the guidance of the Cell Lead.
  • Proficient in using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools to ensure products meet customer specifications.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints.
  • Review various inspection and production reports to guarantee the production of quality products.
  • Effectively manage the production process from start to finish.
  • Minimize waste and regrind.
  • Maximize efficiency to reduce overall setup and startup times.
  • Capable of monitoring multiple extrusion lines when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Strictly follow Company and Plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Comply with siffron Des Plaines safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Proactively report safety, environmental, or quality concerns.
Secondary Functions
  • Assist other operators and production packers as needed.
  • Operate Forklift.
  • Support the company's vision, mission, and goals.
Performance Measures
  • Produce parts that meet quality standards.
  • Minimize line setup and startup times.
  • Achieve established efficiency targets.
  • Reduce waste and regrind during production runs.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Not applicable.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts.
  • Flexibility to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift is required.
  • Mandatory overtime on Saturdays may be necessary.
  • Potential for overtime during weekdays may be required.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in setup and/or extrusion processes preferred.
Skills (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other)
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to communicate, read, and write in English.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
