A nurse in the catheterization lab is a registered nurse who focuses on delivering care to patients undergoing both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within a catheterization suite. The responsibilities of this role encompass a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Key Responsibilities- Pre-procedure Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients, reviewing their medical history, medications, allergies, and other pertinent information to ensure readiness for the procedure.
- Procedure Preparation: Prepare the patient, necessary equipment, and the environment for the procedure, ensuring proper patient positioning.
- Monitoring: Continuously observe the patient's vital signs and overall condition throughout the procedure.
- Assisting the Physician: Support the physician during the procedure by preparing and administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and operating equipment as instructed.
- Post-procedure Care: Provide comprehensive post-procedural care, including monitoring for any adverse reactions or complications, administering medications, and managing the insertion site.
- Documentation: Accurately document the patient's procedure, vital signs, medications administered, and any complications encountered.
The ideal candidate for this position should possess exceptional patient care abilities, a keen attention to detail, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. Additionally, candidates should hold a current registered nursing license, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, and have prior experience in a catheterization lab setting. This role is a contracted travel position.
