About the Role

The University of Southern California's Information Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Financial Supervisor to join its team. As a key member of ITS Finance, you will collaborate with a diverse and talented team to support the financial needs of various information technology initiatives and deliver value to our campus stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day work of accounting assistants or technicians assigned to a financial unit within financial services or in a school, administrative, or auxiliary department.
  • Monitor and review work for accuracy and timeliness, identifying and correcting errors, and assisting in problem resolution.
  • Train staff in unit operating procedures, ensuring procedures and policies are documented and updated as changes occur.
  • Collect and format data for special projects and management studies, preparing various financial reports as required.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate internal reviews and audits, implementing corrective actions directed by manager.
  • Vendor Management – Coordinate with Procurement and Sourcing team suppliers to aggregate vendor contract performance data, develop standard and ad hoc reports to support vendor management performance, and identify and analyze compliance validations, operational oversight, and overall vendor spending.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Two years of experience in accounting or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
  • Senior or lead bookkeeping/accounting experience with directly related college study.
  • Thorough knowledge of established accounting principles, methods, practices, and terminology used in financial/accounting and statistical record-keeping work.
  • Ability to train, evaluate, and supervise the work of employees.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and effective communications skills.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Three years of experience in accounting.
  • Proficiency in Excel – pivot tables, formulas, charts.
  • Knowledge of University financial systems and strong knowledge of computers and accounting applications.
  • Knowledge of Workday and other financial systems.
