Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Personal Financial Counselor to join our team at Magellan Health. As a key member of our organization, you will provide expert financial guidance and support to military service members and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Counseling Services: Provide one-on-one counseling, consultation, and education on personal financial management, including budgeting, saving, and investing.
  • Program Development: Develop and implement financial education programs, workshops, and classes to support the financial well-being of military personnel and their families.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure program effectiveness and meet the needs of the installation.
  • Virtual Support: Possess the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication, such as web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Manage duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol and communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision.
  • Professional Development: Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned/appropriate.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; may consider applicants with an associate degree plus 4 years' experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years' experience.
  • Certifications: Must have one of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
  • Experience: Must have over a thousand hours of financial counseling experience.
  • Language: Must be a U.S. citizen and speak fluent English; may be required to be bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
