Patient Care Technician

As a Patient Care Technician with Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care while demonstrating our values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mutual Respect.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform varied patient care-related activities, duties, and tasks under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Assist patients with hygiene care, obtain vital signs, and communicate effectively with the care team.
- Perform 12-lead EKG duties, wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
- Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, and maintain patient charts.
- Provide administrative support to the work area/unit, including ordering and maintaining office and patient care floor stock/supplies.
- Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification.
- Current driver's license, insurance, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to access the Internet or a phone line to transfer patient files twice a day.
- Ability to transfer and position patients independently and safely.
- 1+ years of previous experience in a healthcare setting.
- Ability to apply technical skills and experience gathering patient data and performing patient care tasks.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.
Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
