Job Summary:

The Energy Conservation Specialist works with the Weatherization Program team to provide energy conservation services to eligible low-income households in Jefferson County. This includes installing energy-efficient windows and doors, insulating attics, and repairing and replacing furnaces. The Specialist will work closely with the Crew Supervisor to ensure program performance standards are met and deadlines are achieved.

The Energy Conservation Specialist must be willing to learn new practices and technologies to conserve energy in Jefferson County's housing market. This individual will report directly to the Housing & Energy Services Director and Crew Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install energy-efficient windows and doors
  • Insulate attics
  • Repair and replace furnaces
  • Work with the Crew Supervisor to meet program performance standards
  • Learn new practices and technologies to conserve energy
Requirements:
  • One year of work experience in the construction field required
  • HVAC, plumbing, electrical experience encouraged
  • Supportive and non-judgmental in working with customers
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of program information
  • Ability to work as a team and cooperate with all Weatherization Staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly (verbal and written)
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Ability to work 8-10 hours per day; stand for prolonged periods; climb and work from ladders; use hand and power tools; be able to stoop, kneel, crawl, reach, push and pull; exert up to 100lbs of force occasionally; lift up to 30lbs frequently; and work in all environmental conditions

  • Candidates with window and door installation, heating repair and replacement experience
