Position Overview

The Food Services Director at Bear Mountain Health Care is tasked with ensuring exceptional food service and nutritional care for our residents and guests. The primary objective is to consistently deliver an outstanding dining experience, embodying the mission, vision, and values of Bear Mountain. This role involves overseeing, planning, and directing all facets of food services and nutrition.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Promote and exemplify the organization’s mission, vision, and values through food service excellence.
  2. Welcome all residents, families, and visitors with a warm and positive demeanor.
  3. Ensure compliance with all conduct regulations and standards.
  4. Oversee food production, ensuring adherence to standardized recipes and quality checks for flavor, temperature, and presentation.
  5. Optimize food preparation for nutritional value while managing costs and time efficiency.
  6. Assess food quality and quantity needs, develop master menus, and supervise therapeutic diet planning.
  7. Conduct personalized dietary assessments for residents to tailor daily menu preparations.
  8. Plan menus, procure food supplies, and delegate responsibilities for special events and functions.
  9. Foster the development of the Food Services team through effective training, coaching, and mentoring.
  10. Establish performance standards, assign responsibilities, and delegate authority among staff.
  11. Engage in the Ambassador Program to enhance staff involvement.
  12. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
  13. Enhance professional growth through ongoing education and training opportunities.
  14. Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive dietetic services.
  15. Regularly evaluate staff performance and manage personnel matters as necessary.
  16. Maintain inventory and waste management protocols.
  17. Prepare and manage the departmental budget, including detailed reporting on dietary services.
  18. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with dietary regulations and standards.
  19. Develop and implement policies regarding food handling, sanitation, and record-keeping.
  20. Review departmental performance and implement improvements to enhance service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietician (RD) or Licensed Dietician (LD) preferred; Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to utilize technology for budgeting, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
