Role Summary: The Literacy Academic Collaborator, in partnership with the academic content manager and other members of the Teaching and Learning team, is tasked with delivering high-quality instructional materials, enhancing classroom methodologies, and expanding effective programs within their network to elevate student achievement in Tulsa Public Schools and ensure all students are prepared for success in higher education, careers, and life. The Literacy Academic Collaborator collaborates with their instructional leadership director to provide guidance for literacy initiatives across the district.

Essential Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in elementary or secondary education, literacy, language and literacy, or bilingual literacy is required; a master's degree is preferred.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of effective K-12 classroom teaching experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in literacy, language and literacy, or ESL literacy.

Specialized Skills and Certifications:

  • Current Oklahoma teacher certification is required.
  • Preferred endorsements include reading teacher, reading specialist, bilingual, or ESL.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies to support multilingual learners and students with disabilities is highly preferred.
