The Pump Mechanic III position at Caterpillar is a critical role that requires a high level of technical expertise and leadership skills. Key Responsibilities- Perform all duties of a Pump Mechanic I and II
- Demonstrate leadership skills and take on additional responsibilities
- Prepare and complete job tasks efficiently
- Maintain a smooth flow of customer product through the shop
- Ensure quality control of customer flow control product
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships
- Conduct final inspections of pumps
- Troubleshoot, disassemble, and evaluate pumps to determine repair needs and root cause analysis
- Operate and utilize various hand and pneumatic tools
- Submit lists of corrective needs and associated materials
- Clean and remove debris in preparation for re-assembly
- Document serial numbers, part numbers, and heat codes as required
- Assemble components ensuring alignment and proper fit
- Install moving parts such as plungers, pins, and bearings
- Operate forklifts to move materials between work centers
- Perform hot work using acetylene torches
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Verify conformance to specifications
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- One to three years of related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
