Fleet Technician III

About the Job: We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Technician III - Equipment Mechanic to join our team at the City of El Paso, TX. This is a great opportunity to work with a variety of trucks, automobiles, buses, and other city vehicles and equipment, utilizing your knowledge of gasoline, diesel, or alternative fueled internal combustion engines.
Job Summary: As a Fleet Technician III - Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks, including repair, reconditioning, and maintenance of city vehicles and equipment. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and analyzing work assignments, identifying necessary parts, supplies, and materials, and testing and validating repairs and maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform repairs, reconditioning, and maintenance of city vehicles and equipment, including trucks, automobiles, buses, and other equipment with gasoline, diesel, or alternative fueled internal combustion engines.
- Assess, diagnose, and analyze work assignments to determine necessary repairs and maintenance.
- IDentify and procure necessary parts, supplies, and materials.
- Test and validate repairs and maintenance work to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Perform regular, emergency, and preventative maintenance work, as well as scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Determine compliance with established repair, maintenance, and upkeep standards, operations, and expectations.
- Update and maintain files, records, logs, and reports related to vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Interact with officials, contractors, employees, other departments, and the general public to provide accurate information, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED, or higher.
- Two (2) years of journey-level automotive or diesel mechanic experience.
- Valid USA driver's license (Texas Class C or equivalent from another state).
- Ability to interpret and analyze technical data and information for decision-making and work purposes.
- Safe operation of city vehicles, equipment, and tools.

Working Conditions:
