We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at The Arora Group. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:- Receive and review prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with pharmacy standard operating procedures.
- Enter prescriptions into the outpatient computer system, reviewing patient profiles for allergies, drug interactions, and duplicate orders.
- Coordinate with prescribers and pharmacists to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
- Perform outpatient functions with minimal supervision, entering and retrieving patient-specific information and reports from pharmacy-oriented mainframe computer systems.
- Assist with drug utilization review studies, prepare sterile products for critically ill patients, and maintain records on investigational drug protocols.
- Conduct medication storage area inspections, educate hospital staff on proper storage and security of pharmaceuticals, and provide technical guidance to other pharmacy technicians.
- Screen orders and prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and conformity to laws and regulations, and safeguard controlled substances according to regulations and pharmacy policies.
- Interpret physician orders, input, fill, and dispense prescriptions within established parameters, and review and prepare orders for intravenous additive solutions.
- Assemble drugs and supplies for distribution to the Primary Care Center, answer routine questions, and convey necessary information to hospital staff and patients.
- Maintain adequate levels of working stock, ensure proper storage, and advise supply personnel of any shortages of medications or supplies.
- Check drug supplies to ensure medications are in date and properly maintained, and maintain required records and accountability documents.
- Implement departmental policies and procedures, participate in quality assurance activities, and assist pharmacists in providing guidance and training to pharmacy technician students and inexperienced technicians.
- Maintain satisfactory conditions of cleanliness throughout the Pharmacy Department.
- Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program accredited by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP) or have successfully completed a formal pharmacy technician training program.
- 2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Board Certification in compliance with Exhibit 5 requirements for a Pharmacy Technician.
- Valid, unrestricted license as a Pharmacy Technician in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the U.S.
- US Citizenship required for access to government computer systems.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers.
