Key Responsibilities:

As a Speech Language Pathologist at UNLV Health, you will be responsible for assessing, treating, and developing treatment plans for patients with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. This includes evaluating and diagnosing disorders in children and adults, providing comprehensive treatment plans, and educating patients and their families on proper techniques and strategies.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • State of Nevada Board of Examination for Audiology and Speech Pathology License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Knowledge and experience working with children from birth to 9 years and willingness to work with this age-group
  • Knowledge and experience working with head and neck cancer patients, including laryngectomy patients and voice disorder patients
  • Knowledge and experience with children with Autism and/or other neurodevelopmental disorders

Physical Requirements:

The Speech Language Pathologist will be required to stand, sit, and/or walk for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and work on a special schedule (i.e. evenings and weekends). The position may also involve working with challenging patients and clients, lifting up to 50 pounds, and preparing speech pathology exam rooms and equipment following proper sterilization and safety procedures.
