Alta Science and Engineering is seeking a Senior Restoration Specialist, with a background in either Engineering or Geomorphology, to supervise and facilitate stream, meadow, and wetland restoration initiatives across the Inland Northwest and beyond. This position requires collaboration with a dynamic team to enhance restoration efforts. The role encompasses project management, business development, team leadership, and both field and office responsibilities. The ideal candidate should be self-driven and thrive in a creative, engaging environment that includes scientists, engineers, and clients.

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) with benefits, based in our offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and develop assessment, design, and construction management projects related to stream, meadow, and wetland restoration, including wetland mitigation and potential remedial design activities.
  • Create and execute plans, procedures, and protocols to achieve project objectives, while managing or conducting fieldwork as necessary.
  • Ensure that natural systems projects are completed on schedule and within budget, adhering to Alta's quality standards.
  • Plan, organize, and prepare project deliverables such as design documents, bid packages, and reports.
  • Act as a primary liaison with clients and stakeholders, providing timely updates to management regarding project developments.
  • Mentor and develop team members.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with clients and staff.
  • Promote health and safety practices consistently.
  • Lead marketing and business development efforts.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering (preferably with a focus on water resources) or in fluvial geomorphology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of hydrology, geomorphology, hydraulics, and river and wetland processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on technical writing.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in restoration work.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions and challenging terrains.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Understanding of market and technical proposals.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • A strong passion for natural systems.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with federal regulations such as CWA, ESA, and NEPA.
  • Experience with design software, particularly AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Completion of Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
