Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Educational Services. As a key member of our therapy team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities in various settings.

Job Summary:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in implementing and documenting treatment programs for students and children. This includes assisting with exercises, activities of daily living skills, and ambulatory techniques. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in implementing the therapy program, including exercises, activities of daily living skills, and ambulatory techniques.
  • Construct, adapt, and monitor adaptive equipment, and consult with teachers and parents on its use.
  • Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and other required activities.
  • Prepare projects and materials for conducting individual and group motor skills programs.
  • Follow established procedures from referral to discharge, with appropriate communication to supervisors.
  • Monitor instructional assistants in daily motor skills programs.
  • Consult with classroom staff/education team members and parents regarding implementing motor skills programs.
  • Assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in the assessment of students and the development of IFSP/IEP goals.
  • Participate as a member of the education team, and may attend parent conferences.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant.
  • Have or be eligible to hold a certified occupational therapy assistant license in the state of Washington.
  • Preferred qualifications include certified occupational therapy assistant experience in an educational setting, early childhood and/or school age experience.
Working Conditions:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will work in a variety of settings, including family home environments, preschool or K-12 classroom settings, and may move from classroom to classroom to provide services. The successful candidate will have the ability to move and position children and/or students according to established procedures to provide therapy.

Employment Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  • Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
